SCERT Uttarakhand Wraps Up First Phase Workshop for "Fundamentals of ICT Tools for School Teachers" MOOC, Second Phase Under Review:

The successful completion of the first phase of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled "Fundamentals of ICT Tools for School Teachers" has garnered praise from top officials at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Uttarakhand. Bandana Garbyal, Director of Academic Research and Training, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the course, highlighting its significance in enhancing teacher proficiency in technology integration. Supporting this initiative, Additional Director Ajay Naudiyal emphasized the importance of modern pedagogical methods in advancing education in Uttarakhand.


Throughout the process, key figures from SCERT, including Joint Director Kanchan Devradi, played pivotal roles, ensuring the smooth execution of the MOOC development. In the mean time of content writing supporting words facilitated by Joint Director SCERT, Asha Painuly. The presence of CEO Dehradun, Pradeep Rawat, further underscored the importance of technology-enabled education in addressing the evolving needs of schools in the region. Rawat shared his insights on the necessity for schools to embrace innovative teaching practices, emphasizing the role of MOOCs in facilitating this transition.

The initial review phase of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled "Fundamentals of ICT Tools for School Teachers" in Uttarakhand saw the expertise of highly acclaimed professors, Prof. Ajay Semalty and  Dr. Ishteyaaq Ahmad, come to the forefront. Renowned for their extensive experience in creating and developing MOOCs on the SWAYAM platform, operated by the Government of India, both professors brought invaluable insights to the table.

Prof. Ajay Semalty and  Dr. Ishteyaaq Ahmad have been instrumental in designing online courses catering to universities, technical institutions, and school educational institutions nationwide. Their expertise and understanding of effective online pedagogy have been pivotal in shaping the course content and structure of the MOOC for Uttarakhand's school teachers.

The collaborative efforts of the team were acknowledged, with R.P. Badoni, leading the coordination efforts in framing and structuring the course and its workflow for developers. Badoni's guidance ensured that the MOOC met the highest standards of educational excellence and relevance to the teaching community. During last day supporting and feedback session Deputy Director Shailendra Amoli shared and remarked on the live demonstration on Video and hands-on tutorial developed by the content experts. He always appreciates the contributions and dedications of the teachers usually those are involved in both tasks as teaching in classrooms and serving for institutions in the state.
The initiative by the Information Technology Department of SCERT Uttarakhand received widespread appreciation for its commitment to advancing teacher training through digital platforms. As the MOOC prepares for its second phase review and subsequent launch on the DIKSHA platform, anticipation grows among educators and stakeholders eager to benefit from this innovative learning opportunity.

The commendation from SCERT officials underscores the importance of leveraging technology to empower educators and enhance the quality of education in Uttarakhand. With the support of dedicated individuals and strategic initiatives like the MOOC, SCERT continues to lead the way in fostering educational excellence in the region.

The content developers have meticulously curated the course to address various aspects crucial for effective technology integration. The main areas covered include:

Module 1: Introduction to ICT in Education, spearheaded by Dr. Ajay Semalti, Dr. Ishteyaaq Ahmad, Manoj Bahuguna, and Ramesh Badoni.

Module 2: Basic Productivity Tools, led by Supriya Bahukhandi, Archana Gargya, and Pankaj Bijalwan.

Module 3: Presentation Tools, facilitated by Bhaskar Joshi, Ajay Pal singh Negi, and Pushpa Aswal.

Module 4: Communication and Collaboration Tools, guided by Ashok Bhatt and Rajmohan Rawat.

Module 5: Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship, overseen by Atual Bamrara and S P Verma.

Module 6: Integrating ICT into Lesson Plans, with contributions from Daulat Gusain, PC Upadhaya, Prabhakar Joshi, Vinod Basera, Ravindra Rautella, Manodhar Nainwal, Dr. Ashish Raturi, and Rajeev Sharma.

Module 7: Assessment, Reflection, and Conclusion, led by Pradeep Negi and Sudhir Nautiyal.



The completion of the first phase workshop signifies a crucial step towards realizing SCERT Uttarakhand's vision of fostering innovative teaching practices through technology-enabled education. As the second phase undergoes review, educators and stakeholders eagerly anticipate the official launch of the MOOC on the DIKSHA platform.

In the whole five days Rajat Chhibbar as office account and supporting staff nicely managed the need of the workshop along with IT faculty S P Verma
