India’s rich linguistic diversity has found renewed support through an exciting initiative launched by NCERT and the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL)—the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp Primers and Special Modules. These resources aim to nurture multilingualism and strengthen foundational literacy across Indian schools in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
🌍 What’s New?
The initiative features:
-
Primers in 117 Indian Languages
These include 17 scheduled languages, 23 non-tribal languages, and 81 tribal languages. Each primer offers child-friendly, contextual material to help children learn to read and write in their mother tongue. -
Special Educational Modules
Designed for students from Classes 1 to 12, these modules explore themes like India’s scientific progress, democracy, cultural heritage, and digital evolution. They are filled with activities, illustrations, and quizzes to encourage interactive learning.
