The International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (ICFAST 2025) held on 12 October 2025 at IIT Delhi, marked a remarkable platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the fields of science, technology, and sustainability. The event was jointly organized by the Indian JSPS Alumni Association and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, bringing together eminent researchers, educators, and innovators from India and Japan.

From Uttarakhand, Ramesh Badoni, IT Faculty, SCERT Uttarakhand, attended the event representing the state. Alongside him, Dr. A. K. Badoni and Sunil C Purohit also participated in the seminar, contributing to the state’s academic presence at this prestigious international forum. Their participation set a new benchmark for SCERT Uttarakhand in engaging with global scientific and educational initiatives.

The event commenced with the 7th ISSCA Alumni Session—“MINDSPARK: Nurturing Science for a Sustainable World”, organized as part of the India–Japan Science Cooperation series. The morning session, held at the Lecture Hall Complex (LHC 310), witnessed enthusiastic participation from Indian and Japanese alumni of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

A major highlight of the program was the keynote address by Nobel Laureate Dr. Yoshino Akira, whose revolutionary contribution to the development of lithium-ion batteries has powered a global shift toward renewable and portable energy solutions. His inspiring talk emphasized how scientific curiosity, innovation, and international collaboration can lead to a more sustainable and technology-driven future.

The subsequent sessions included presentations and discussions by distinguished Indian and Japanese researchers in emerging areas such as quantum computing, sustainable materials, and digital technologies. These exchanges reflected the importance of global partnerships in advancing national education systems through exposure to frontier research and innovation.

The participation of Uttarakhand educators in ICFAST 2025 stands as a proud moment for SCERT Uttarakhand, symbolizing the state’s commitment to fostering innovation, scientific thinking, and technology integration in education. Such international engagements align strongly with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for experiential learning, research-based pedagogy, and global collaboration.

As Uttarakhand moves toward building a future-ready, innovation-driven education ecosystem, participation in global events like ICFAST 2025 will continue to inspire teachers and students alike to contribute meaningfully to science, sustainability, and a better world.
