Agastya-NAVAM Foundation and SCERT Uttarakhand Host Second Webinar on Design Thinking

Dehradun 03- Oct 2024 : The Agastya-NAVAM Foundation, in collaboration with SCERT Uttarakhand, successfully conducted the second webinar in their ongoing Design Thinking series. The focus of this session was on empathy and defining community issues, guiding participants on how to transform these into impactful ideas and solution strategies.

Sharvan and Alok Dwivedi represented the webinar, engaging school participants and SCERT faculty. Director of Academic Research and Training, Bandana Garbyal, and Additional Director Ajay Naudiyal have been providing continuous support to the initiative, fostering innovation and entrepreneurial skills among  students and teachers in state schools.

The upcoming Innovative Design Thinking Video Series by Agastya-NAVAM Foundation and SCERT Uttarakhand marks a significant step towards transforming school education in Uttarakhand. This initiative aims to introduce design thinking principles—such as empathy, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving—into the educational framework. The series will target students and teachers across state schools, providing them with tools and methodologies to address community issues and develop innovative solutions.

The video series will explore key phases of design thinking: understanding and empathizing with real-world problems, defining issues, ideating creative solutions, prototyping, and testing those solutions in practical contexts. By emphasizing empathy, the series will guide students to look beyond surface-level challenges and understand the deeper needs of the community, encouraging them to apply their learning in meaningful ways.

Supported by Director Bandana Garbyal and Additional Director Naudiyal , this initiative also aligns with the state’s focus on skill development, entrepreneurship, and 21st-century learning competencies. It aims to prepare both teachers and students to be more adaptive, innovative, and entrepreneurial, in tune with the goals of NEP 2020. Faculty from SCERT, Ramesh Badoni, S P Verma, Sadhna Dimri, Pushpa Aswal along with Jagdama Dobhal National Awardee Teacher were present in the Webinar. Dobhal Quoted "For the first time I came to know about empathy strategies... and various types of strategies. Every episode is grooming the participants as per need of the time."

As the series progresses, it will include collaborative workshops and webinars, providing hands-on guidance to educators and students on how to integrate design thinking into the classroom. These efforts will contribute to fostering a culture of innovation and critical thinking within Uttarakhand’s education system, driving positive change and preparing learners for future challenges.
