Uttarakhand's Rising Star: Karthikeya Kunwar Selected for Prestigious Science Promotion Program at IISc Bangalore

In a remarkable achievement, Karthikeya Kunwar, a student from a government school in Uttarakhand, has been chosen to participate in the Science Promotion Program (SEP) SEP@IISc- 2024 at the esteemed Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

Hailing from Tharali, Chamoli, 17-year-old Karthikeya Kumar born on May 12, 2007. Despite humble beginnings with his father running a shop and his mother managing the household, Karthikeya has excelled academically. He has been studying at GMIC Tharali since childhood, and in the 10th standard, he secured the sixth position in the Uttarakhand board exam, scoring an impressive 100 marks in Maths and 98 marks in Science. Currently, he is in the 12th class, diligently preparing for the JEE exam.

With a keen interest in space and technology, Karthikeya aspires to become an aerospace engineer and is determined to carve his career path through IIT Madras. His dedication and hard work paid off when he aced the online examination and interview rounds, emerging as one of the top scorers among students selected nationwide. Consequently, he secured admission in the SEP program scheduled to take place from May 15 to June 15 at IISc Bangalore.

SEP is a pioneering initiative aimed at providing a platform for high-achieving students like Karthikeya to immerse themselves in an enhanced STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) experience. The program offers participants the opportunity to learn from distinguished professors at IISc and engage in projects under faculty guidance. The culmination of these projects will be showcased through reports prepared by the students, highlighting their findings and learning outcomes.

Karthikeya's selection in this prestigious program has been lauded by Bandana Garbyal; the Director of Academic Research & Training Uttarakhand, who congratulated him and emphasized the importance of disseminating such success stories to inspire other students. Principal Mahipal Singh of GMIC extended his congratulations and helped whenever needed.

Karthikeya's mentor, Ramesh Badoni, IT faculty from SCERT, played a crucial role in assisting him to fulfill all requirements for participation in the program. Moreover, Nitin Desai, CEO of Agastya and Navam Foundation, has pledged funding and personal support for Karthikeya's journey. Desai's efforts have been instrumental in providing support to numerous deserving students like Karthikeya across the nation. Ambrish Bisht, member of Azim Prem ji Foundation, also said in his message that his foundation will take the lead in supporting Karthikeya if needed.

Bhagwati Joshi, a renowned scientist and professor at IISc, has given her consent to Ramesh Badoni to extend all necessary help to Karthikeya. Notably, Joshi, who hails from Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, returned to serve her country after working in Silicon Valley, California.

थराली, चमोली के रहने वाले 17 वर्षीय कार्तिकेय कुमार का जन्म 12 मई 2007 को हुआ था। अपने पिता के एक दुकान चलाने और मां के घर संभालने की छोटी सी शुरुआत के बावजूद, कार्तिकेय ने शैक्षणिक रूप से उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन किया है। वह बचपन से जीएमआईसी थराली में पढ़ रहे हैं, और 10 वीं कक्षा में, उन्होंने गणित में प्रभावशाली 100 अंक और विज्ञान में 98 अंक हासिल करके उत्तराखंड बोर्ड परीक्षा में छठा स्थान हासिल किया। फिलहाल वह 12वीं कक्षा में है और पूरी लगन से जेईई परीक्षा की तैयारी कर रहा है।

Navam - Agastya International Foundation and SCERT Uttarakhand will Collaborate to Introduce Design Thinking Program

In a landmark meeting held today at the conference hall of SCERT Uttarakhand, education leaders converged to discuss the implementation of a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering innovation and creativity among students. The meeting, chaired by Director Academic Research and Training, Bandna Garbyal, witnessed the collaboration between Navam Foundation and SCERT Uttarakhand to introduce the Design Thinking course in schools across the state.

The Design Thinking course, spearheaded by Navam Foundation, offers a transformative opportunity for teachers and students to develop essential 21st-century skills in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. By embracing the principles of Design Thinking, participants are empowered to unleash their creative potential and drive positive change in their communities and beyond.

CEO Nitin Desai and his team from Navam Foundation led the meeting with an insightful presentation, showcasing videos and digital resources tailored for an online audience. Raising Awareness on World Autism Day: SCERT's Initiative

On World Autism Day, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) took action to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They organized an awareness program to help people understand and support individuals with autism. During the program, SCERT faculty explained what ASD is and why early detection and intervention are important. They also discussed the challenges faced by people with autism.
Bandana Garbyal, the Director of Academic Research and Training, led the initiative with a focus on promoting inclusive education. She encouraged participants to think about how they can create inclusive environments for people with autism. Asha Painuli, the Joint Director, shared stories of organizations and individuals making a difference in the lives of autistic people, aiming to dispel myths and promote empathy.

The program, led by SCERT faculty members Priya Gusain and Anugya Painuli, explained the different parts of autism and why it's important to find it early and help. People in the program learned about the challenges that people with autism face. Gusain and Painuli highlighted the diverse forms of autism, helping participants understand that it manifests differently in each individual. Through their presentations, participants gained valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by people with autism, including difficulties with communication, social interaction, and sensory processing.

Bandana Garbyal, who is Head of Academic Research and Training, started the program and talked about how everyone should include and understand autistic children. Asha Painuli, who helps lead SCERT, talked about how we should understand and accept people with autism and gave examples of ways people are helping them. SCERT wants to keep helping and making society better for people with autism.

भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान (आईआईएससी), बैंगलोर (SEP@IISc 2024) में विज्ञान संवर्धन कार्यक्रम (एसईपी) के लिए अपने राज्य से 2-5  छात्रों को नामांकित किया जाएगा ।  यह प्रस्तावित कार्यक्रम 15 मई से 15 जून 2024 तक होने वाला है। एसईपी -2020 के उद्देश्य के अनुसार उच्च उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाले छात्रों को उन्नत एसटीईएम प्राप्ति के लिए आईआईएससी के प्रतिष्ठित प्रोफेसरों से सीखने और मार्गदर्शन के तहत एक परियोजना में शामिल होने का अवसर प्रदान करने के लिए कार्यक्रम को तैयार किया गया है जो  छात्रों द्वारा तैयार की गई एक रिपोर्ट, निष्कर्षों और सीखने के परिणामों को प्रदर्शित करेगी। चयनित छात्रों को व्यावहारिक अनुभव प्राप्त करने का अनूठा अवसर और उन्हें विज्ञान और इंजीनियरिंग में उच्च अध्ययन एवं अनुसंधान मे करियर बनाने के लिए भी प्रेरणा मिलेगी। इस शैक्षणिक वर्ष 2024 में 11वीं कक्षा उत्तीर्ण, और 10वीं कक्षा की परीक्षाओं में विज्ञान और गणित में 95% से अधिक अंक प्राप्त पाँच छात्रों/छात्राओं के नाम 10 अप्रैल 2024 तक गूगल  फॉर्म https://forms.gle/5seWU88Jk232n3EE7  से  भेजे जाने हैं। छात्रों को  लिखित परीक्षा देनी होगी। परीक्षण के माध्यम से चयनित किए गए छात्रों को साक्षात्कार के  आधार पर कार्यक्रम के लिए चुना जाएगा।

सूचना एवं संचार प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग, एस सी ई आर टी उत्तराखंड द्वारा आयोजित तीन दिवसीय MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) कार्यशाला का समापन 22 मार्च 2024 को हुआ। इस कार्यशाला का उद्देश्य शिक्षकों को आधुनिक शिक्षा में सूचना और संचार प्रौद्योगिकी (ICT) के उपयोग के बारे में प्रशिक्षित करने के लिए आनलाइन कोर्स तैयार करना था।

कार्यशाला के समापन समारोह में निदेशक, अकादमिक शोध एवं प्रशिक्षण, बन्दना गर्ब्याल ने कहा कि ICT शिक्षा को अधिक प्रभावी और आकर्षक बनाने का एक महत्वपूर्ण साधन है। उन्होंने कहा कि MOOCs शिक्षकों को नवीनतम शिक्षण विधियों और तकनीकों से अवगत कराने का एक शानदार तरीका है।

निदेशक ने कार्यशाला में भाग लेने वाले सभी शिक्षकों और विषय विशेषज्ञों को धन्यवाद दिया और कहा कि एस सी ई आर टी शिक्षकों को प्रशिक्षित करने और उन्हें ICT के उपयोग में सक्षम बनाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।

संयुक्त निदेशक कंचन देवराडी ने कार्यशाला में शिक्षकों के विभिन्न विषयों पर ई-कंटेंट और वीडियो ट्यूटोरियल परीक्षण कर सुझाव साझा किए। उन्होंने MOOCs के माध्यम से शिक्षण और सीखने की प्रक्रिया को बेहतर बनाने के लिए विभिन्न तरीकों पर भी चर्चा की।

मुख्य समीक्षक डॉ अजय सेमल्टी ने कार्यशाला के प्रगति का मूल्यांकन किया और समीक्षक डॉ इस्तेययक अहमद और आशीष रतूडी ने अपने सुझाव दिए।

कार्यशाला के समन्वयक, रमेश प्रसाद बडोनी ने कहा कि यह कार्यशाला शिक्षकों के लिए बहुत उपयोगी थी। उन्होंने कहा कि शिक्षकों के लिए MOOCs के माध्यम से शिक्षण और सीखने की प्रक्रिया को बेहतर बनाने के लिए कई नए विचार और तकनीकें का प्रयोग कर कोर्स बनाया गया है।

कार्यशाला में भाग लेने वाले शिक्षकों ने कहा कि यह कार्यशाला उनके लिए बहुत ही मेहनत वाली और प्रेरक थी। उन्होंने कहा कि वे इस कोर्स के माध्यम से शिक्षण में ICT का उपयोग करने के नावाचारी तरीकों से भी अवगत होते रहे हैं।

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Uttarakhand recently hosted the second phase of a pivotal MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) development workshop at Pearl Avenue in Dehradun. This workshop was strategically designed to meticulously review and moderate content for a course titled "Fundamentals of ICT Tools for School Teachers."

The overarching objective of this workshop was to ensure the seamless progression and coherence of the course content. Here's a breakdown of the main activities undertaken during this phase:

Review and Moderation of Content:

The workshop primarily focused on reviewing all content developed for Modules 1 through 7, meticulously ensuring consistency and coherence. Facilitators and subject matter experts collaborated closely to assess each module, making necessary revisions or enhancements based on feedback from the course development team. This process aimed to refine the content to align with the course objectives and standards set forth by SCERT.

Finalization of Modules:

One of the key highlights of the workshop was the finalization of Module 1.
