SCERT and Navam Innovation Foundation Collaborate to Foster Innovation in Uttarakhand Schools

 
Dehradun, Uttarakhand - In a significant move to promote innovation and design thinking among school students, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Government of Uttarakhand, and Navam Innovation Foundation, Bangalore, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This non-financial partnership aims to broadcast a design thinking video series for middle and high school students across Uttarakhand.

The MoU was signed by Ajay Naudiyal, Additional Director of SCERT, and Nitin Desai, CEO of Navam Innovation Foundation. The project, titled "Broadcasting Innovation and Design Thinking Sessions for Government Middle and High School Students in Uttarakhand," will run for 24 weeks, with each week featuring a new episode. The entire project duration is set for three years.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Director of Academic Research and Training, Bandana Garbyal, aims to integrate innovative educational practices across Uttarakhand. The signing ceremony also saw the presence of Joint Director Kanchan Devradi and Assistant Director Dr. K. N. Bijalwan, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance educational quality.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. The project will broadcast 24 episodes, each lasting 45-60 minutes, on the state government’s education channel. These episodes will serve as a feeder program for the INSPIRE Awards and other innovation contests in Uttarakhand.

Key features of the program include:

• Structured Curriculum: The sessions are based on Stanford University's design thinking framework and are designed to enhance 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and digital literacy.
• Interactive Sessions: Each episode will feature presentations, interactive discussions, Q&A sessions, and DIY activities, involving students, teachers, and Navam’s trainers.
• Teacher Training: Navam Innovation Foundation will train 20-25 master trainers from each district to incorporate design thinking into their teaching methods.
• Accessibility and Engagement: The program ensures that both urban and rural students in Uttarakhand have access to these innovative educational sessions through satellite broadcasts and digital platforms.

The initiative is expected to enhance the overall educational experience for government school students in Uttarakhand, fostering a culture of innovation and preparing students to tackle real-world problems creatively. Regular evaluations and feedback mechanisms will be in place to ensure the program's effectiveness and continual improvement.

This partnership marks a significant step towards bridging the educational gap and equipping Uttarakhand's students with the skills necessary to thrive in a dynamic and evolving world.

प्रवक्ता विजय सेमवाल एससीईआरटी से सेवानिवृत्त, संस्थान ने दी भावभीनी विदाई

आज एससीईआरटी (राज्य शैक्षिक अनुसंधान और प्रशिक्षण परिषद) में प्रवक्ता विजय सेमवाल की सेवानिवृत्ति का समारोह आयोजित किया गया। संस्थान के सभी संकाय सदस्यों ने विजय सेमवाल के सौम्य स्वभाव को याद करते हुए उन्हें शुभकामनाएँ दीं।

इस अवसर पर संयुक्त निदेशक आशा रानी पैन्यूली  ने भी विजय सेमवाल को शुभकामनाएँ दीं। अपर निदेशक अजय नौडियाल ने अपने अग्रिम संदेश में कहा कि विजय सेमवाल ने अपनी सेवाएं निश्वार्थ भाव से कीं और उनके योगदान को संस्थान हमेशा सराहेगा। संयुक्त निदेशक, कंचन देवराड़ी ने सेमवाल जी को सफल भविष्य के लिए परिवार के सुखमय जीवन की शुभकामनाएं दी । 

सहायक निदेशक डॉ. के एन बिजल्वान  ने भी अपने लंबे कार्यकाल के दौरान विजय सेमवाल के साथ बिताए गए समय को याद किया और उनकी सेवाओं की प्रशंसा की। समारोह में परिषद के प्रवक्ताओं द्वारा एक जलपान पार्टी का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें विजय सेमवाल को उपहार भी भेंट किए गए।

Two American Fulbright educators arriving first week of July 2024  in Dehradun, India, to participate in the prestigious Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program (TGC). This year's program focuses on strengthening educational ties between the United States and India.

The Fulbright TGC program equips teachers with skills to integrate international perspectives into their classrooms, fostering global competency in their students. The program includes an intensive training phase in the U.S. followed by a hands-on field experience abroad.

This year, Dehradun, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, serves as the host location. The American teachers will collaborate with their Indian counterparts to exchange best practices and develop innovative teaching methods.

Currently serving as IT Faculty & Physics Teacher at SCERT UK, Ramesh is passionate about integrating global perspectives into local education. He sees this program as a way to introduce new concepts and opportunities for state school teachers, reviving their teaching skills in the context of 21st-century technology and pedagogy.

Building Bridges Through Education:

Ramesh Badoni's enthusiasm for the program is shared by local education officials. The Director General, Director of Academics, Secretary of Education, and Minister of Education have all supported this initiative. They believe this exchange program, spearheaded by Director of Academic Research and Training; Bandana Garbyal, will significantly improve the quality of education in the region.

Beyond the Walls of PM Shree School GGIC:

The Fulbright TGC program extends beyond the walls of PM Shree School GGIC Rajpur Road Dehradun. The Guest Fulbright Teachers will have the opportunity to visit local community schools, educational institutions, and cultural landmarks to better understand Uttarakhand and its education system. This immersive experience will pave the way for future Fulbright teacher exchange programs, opening doors for schools and teachers to embrace global education and share curriculum best practices.

The Summer Camp organized by Academic Research and Training Uttarakhand is an enriching educational program designed for students. The camp aims to provide a blend of academic learning and practical skills development through various interactive activities and workshops. Participants engage in sessions covering subjects like science, technology, arts, and environmental studies, Calligraphy, Abacus, Sports, Health Check up, storytelling facilitated by experienced educators and professionals. The program also includes outdoor adventures, team-building exercises, and cultural events, promoting holistic growth and fostering a love for learning. Overall, the camp seeks to enhance students' knowledge, creativity, and teamwork abilities in a fun and stimulating environment.

उत्तराखंड एससीईआरटी के सेमीनार हाल में मनाया गया अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगीत दिवस

 

उत्तराखंड एससीईआरटी के सेमीनार हाल में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगीत दिवस का आयोजन बड़े धूमधाम से किया गया। इस विशेष अवसर की शुरुआत संयुक्त निदेशक कंचन देवराडी  ने की। उनके साथ इस कार्यक्रम को सफल बनाने में समन्वयक उषा कटिहार, प्रवक्ता संगीत एससीईआरटी ने हारमोनियम के साथ सहयोग किया।

कंचन देवराडी  ने अपने प्रेजेंटेशन में संगीत के महत्व और इसकी विशेषताओं पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने बताया कि संगीत क्या है, इसे किसे कहते हैं, और यह जीवन में कितना आवश्यक है। उन्होंने सफल संगीतकारों की कहानियों के माध्यम से संगीत की महत्ता को समझाया और राग, ठाट, यमन आदि पर एक वर्कशॉप जैसा माहौल बनाया, जिसमें संगीत की छोटी-छोटी बारीकियों को सिखाया गया।

कार्यक्रम में एससीईआरटी के सभी संकाय सदस्यों ने हिस्सा लिया और उषा कटिहार के साथ धुन मिलाकर कार्यक्रम को संगीत में बदल दिया। यह आयोजन जीवन के लिए एक सुंदर संदेश देता है, जिसका समापन संयुक्त निदेशक कंचन देवराडी ने क्षेत्रीय भाषा में रामलीला की चौपाइयां गाकर किया। उन्होंने कोमल और शुद्ध स्वरों पर भी चर्चा की।

कार्यक्रम में उषा कटिहार ने डॉ. संजीव चेतन को कुछ गानों पर अभिव्यक्ति करने को कहा, जिससे डॉ. चेतन ने एक खास समा बांध दिया और ताल जैसे जरूरी विषय पर अपना व्याख्यान दिया। इसी क्रम में नव नियुक्त कलाकार विनय उनियाल और सौरभ जोशी द्वारा भी गीत प्रस्तुत किए गए, जिसने माहौल को और भी जीवंत बना दिया। कमलेश खंडूरी ने एक खुदेड़ प्रस्तुति देकर सबका मन मौह लिया । कई संकाय सदस्यों द्वारा इस दिवस पर अपनी कला और संगीत का प्रदर्शन किया गया, जिससे इस आयोजन को और भी समृद्ध किया गया। समापन सत्र में संयुक्त निदेशक कंचन देवरानी ने सभी संकाय सदस्यों, उनके परिवारों और समुदाय से अपने जीवन में संगीत को स्थापित करने के लिए आवाहन किया। निदेशक अकादमिक  शोध एवं प्रशिक्षण , बंदना गर्ब्याल और अपर निदेशक अजय नौडियाल ने भी सभी प्रतिभागियों को शुभकामना संदेश भेजकर जीवन में संगीत के महत्व को रेखांकित किया और इसे सफल बनाने के लिए अपनी भावनाएं प्रकट की।

SCERT Uttarakhand Hosts Workshop on Generative AI in Classroom Teaching by CoGrader

Dehradun, June 21, 2024 – The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Uttarakhand organized a dynamic workshop and lecture series on the application of generative AI in classroom teaching. The event, held at the SCERT headquarters, was inaugurated by Joint Director Kanchan Devradi from the IT Department. Deputy Director Shailendra Amoli followed with a keynote address, highlighting the importance of integrating advanced technologies into educational frameworks.

Coordinated by Lecturer Sudhir Nautiyal from the PMeVidya division of the IT department, the workshop brought together educators and IT professionals focused on e-content creation. The central theme revolved around generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Quizlet, and Presentation AI, showcasing their potential to revolutionize teaching methods and curriculum development.

The Cograd group, represented by Himanshu, Saurabh, and Prashant, led the session on MEDHA, a generative AI model designed for educational purposes. Their presentation and interactive Q&A session captured the audience's attention, with active participation from teachers and faculty members. The Q&A session included insightful interactions with IT Faculty Ramesh Badoni, Research and Assessment Faculty Dr. D. P. Raturi, and Teachers Training Faculty Akhilesh Dobhal, focusing on integrating AI in teaching plans and the ethical use of AI in e-content development.

MEDHA was praised for its innovative approach to integrating AI into the school curriculum, addressing various queries from the attendees with ease. The workshop was highly engaging and interactive, reflecting the participants' keen interest in leveraging AI to enhance classroom experiences. The SCERT continues to support such initiatives, aiming to empower educators with cutting-edge tools and techniques to foster a more effective and modern learning environment.

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस: विद्यालय शिक्षा विभाग द्वारा राजीव गांधी नवोदय विद्यालय, देहरादून में मनाया गया

देहरादून, 21 जून 2024 –  अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस के अवसर पर विद्यालय शिक्षा विभाग ने राजीव गांधी नवोदय विद्यालय, देहरादून के प्रांगण में भव्य योग दिवस समारोह का आयोजन किया। इस आयोजन में महानिदेशक; विद्यालयी शिक्षा, बंशीधर तिवारी, माध्यमिक विद्यालयी शिक्षा निदेशक; महावीर बिष्ट, अकादमिक  शोध एवं मूल्यांकन निदेशक;  बंदना गर्ब्याल   और समग्र शिक्षा के अपर राज्य परियोजना निदेशक डॉ. मुकुल सती समेत कई गणमान्य व्यक्ति उपस्थित रहे।

समारोह का मुख्य उद्देश्य छात्रों और शिक्षकों को योग और प्राणायाम के महत्व से अवगत कराना था। सुबह 6:00 से 7:00 बजे तक आयोजित योग सत्र में विद्यालय परिवार के शिक्षक साथियों, समग्र शिक्षा के अधिकारियों, अकादमिक शोध निदेशालय के अधिकारी और संकाय सदस्यों ने भाग लिया। सभी ने पूरे मनोयोग से विभिन्न योगासन और प्राणायाम की क्रियाएं कीं।

महानिदेशक बंशीधर तिवारी ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि योग केवल शारीरिक व्यायाम नहीं है, बल्कि यह मानसिक और आत्मिक शांति का मार्ग भी है। उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि योग को नियमित दिनचर्या में शामिल करने से व्यक्ति स्वस्थ और सकारात्मक जीवन जी सकता है। उन्होंने योग के द्वारा असाध्य रोगों को मात देने वाले उदाहरणों का उल्लेख करते हुए योग की अद्वितीय शक्ति पर प्रकाश डाला।

इस अवसर पर माध्यमिक विद्यालयी शिक्षा निदेशक महावीर बिष्ट और अकादमी शोध एवं मूल्यांकन निदेशक बंदना गर्ब्याल  ने भी योग के महत्व पर अपने विचार प्रस्तुत किए। उन्होंने कहा कि शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में योग का समावेश छात्रों की एकाग्रता, मानसिक शांति और शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य में सुधार करता है।

Five-Day Workshop on Hindi Auxiliary Book Development Commences in Dehradun:"Sanskrit Vinodini"

Dehradun, June 18, 2024 - The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttarakhand, inaugurated a five-day workshop today aimed at developing the Hindi auxiliary book "Sanskrit Vinodini" for Class 10 (Part 2). The workshop is being held at the Azim Premji Foundation, Tarla Amwala, Dehradun.

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Asha Rani Painuily, Joint Director of SCERT, Uttarakhand. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the importance of developing quality educational resources that cater to the diverse learning needs of students. She praised the collaborative efforts of educators and experts in bringing this project to fruition. Bandana Garbyal, Director Academic Research and Training, Uttarakhand praised the workplan and wishing the team to look forward regarding quality education 

Dr. K. N. Bijalwan, Assistant Director of SCERT, Uttarakhand, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the significance of the auxiliary book in enhancing students' understanding and appreciation of Hindi literature and language. Dr. Bijalwan commended the dedicated team of educators and specialists involved in the workshop and encouraged participants to engage actively in the development process.

The workshop aims to refine and enhance the content of the "Sanskrit Vinodini" auxiliary book, ensuring it is comprehensive and aligns with the latest educational standards and methodologies. Kartikeya Kunwar Shines in SEP@IISc-2024: A Young Scientist's Journey from Tharali to Bangalore

Kartikeya Kunwar, a 17-year-old student from Tharali, Chamoli, has made his hometown proud with his remarkable participation in the Science Promotion Program (SEP) SEP@IISc-2024 at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. A student of 12th grade, Kartikeya's journey is a testament to hard work, dedication, and the transformative power of education. Despite these modest circumstances, Kartikeya has consistently excelled in his studies. He has been a student at GMIC Tharali since childhood, and his academic achievements are noteworthy. In the 10th standard, he secured the sixth position in the Uttarakhand board exams, scoring a perfect 100 in Mathematics and an impressive 98 in Science. Kartikeya's  achievement is his successful participation in SEP@IISc-2024, which took place from May 15 to June 15 at IISc Bangalore. SEP is a pioneering initiative designed to provide high-achieving students like Kartikeya with an immersive experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The program offers participants the opportunity to learn from distinguished professors and engage in hands-on projects under their guidance.

During the program, Kartikeya worked on a project focused on the principles of Bernoulli's theorem and its application in aircraft aerodynamics, particularly in designing airfoils. This project, which delved into the workings of airplane wings, was completed under the mentorship of esteemed professors Professor Rajesh chaunsali and Irfan from IISc Bangalore. Kartikeya's dedication and hard work culminated in a comprehensive report showcasing his findings and learning outcomes, which were highly praised.

In addition to his time at IISc, Kartikeya spent a week at the Agastya International Foundation campus. This experience allowed him to explore the application of science within communities and understand its broader societal impact. He expressed his gratitude to Dr. Ramji and Nitin Desai, the former CEO of Agastya Foundation, for their sponsorship and support, which ensured the smooth running of the events.

Reflecting on his experiences, Kartikeya reported to his mentor teacher, R.P. Badoni, that the program far exceeded his expectations. He was particularly thrilled about the high level of treatment and recognition he received for his exemplary work. Kartikeya remarked, "It was really much more worthy than I ever expected."

Kartikeya's interest in space science found a perfect match with his project on airfoils, allowing him to delve deeper into the field of aerodynamics. His successful completion of the project earned him a certification from the head of IISc Bangalore, marking a significant milestone in his academic journey.

As Kartikeya returns to Uttarakhand and prepares to rejoin his school after the summer break, his story stands as an inspiration to many. His journey from a small town in Chamoli to the hallowed halls of IISc Bangalore underscores the importance of perseverance, academic excellence, and the opportunities that education can unlock.
