The recent review meeting of the National Population
Education Project (NPEP) held in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, witnessed active
participation from the State Council of Educational Research and Training
(SCERT) Uttarakhand, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing population
education initiatives. Led by Joint Director; Asha Rani Painuily, the SCERT
team, accompanied by Assistant Director; Krishna Nand Bijalwan contributed
significantly to the discussions aimed at assessing the progress of the project
from March 9th to March 12th, 2024.
The NPEP, a cornerstone of educational reforms in India since
its inception in 1980 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),
has been instrumental in fostering rational and responsible attitudes towards
population issues among students. Coordinated by the National Council of
Education Research and Training (NCERT), the project operates at both national
and state levels to integrate population education into school curricula.
Under the visionary leadership of SCERT Uttarakhand, the
review meeting delved into the re-conceptualized framework of the NPEP,
emphasizing the importance of understanding the interrelationships between
population and sustainable development. The SCERT team actively contributed
insights into the critical conditions for population stabilization, fostering
responsible behavior, and addressing adolescent reproductive health concerns,
including HIV/AIDS and drug abuse.
Recognizing the holistic approach to education, SCERT
Uttarakhand advocated for co-curricular activities to complement traditional
classroom learning. These activities, focusing on adolescence education and
life skill development, were highlighted as effective pedagogical tools to
engage learners in experiential learning and empower them to make informed
decisions.
The participation of SCERT Uttarakhand underscored its
commitment to promoting population education and sustainable development
initiatives within the state. Through advocacy programs, role-play competitions,
folk dance competitions, and other activities, SCERT Uttarakhand continues to
play a proactive role in fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility
among students regarding population and development issues.
As the global population continues to grow, the collaborative
efforts of organizations like SCERT Uttarakhand are crucial in addressing the
challenges of sustainable development. The engagement of stakeholders in the
review meeting reflects a shared commitment to shaping a brighter future for

एनपीईपी, मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय
(एमएचआरडी) के तहत 1980 में अपनी स्थापना के बाद से भारत में शैक्षिक सुधारों की आधारशिला
है, जो छात्रों के बीच जनसंख्या के मुद्दों के प्रति तर्कसंगत और जिम्मेदार दृष्टिकोण
को बढ़ावा देने में सहायक रहा है। राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा अनुसंधान और प्रशिक्षण परिषद (एनसीईआरटी)
द्वारा समन्वित, परियोजना स्कूल पाठ्यक्रम में जनसंख्या शिक्षा को एकीकृत करने के लिए
राष्ट्रीय और राज्य दोनों स्तरों पर संचालित होती है।
एससीईआरटी उत्तराखंड के दूरदर्शी
नेतृत्व में, समीक्षा बैठक में एनपीईपी के पुनर्संकल्पित ढांचे पर प्रकाश डाला गया,

शिक्षा के लिए समग्र दृष्टिकोण को
स्वीकार करते हुए, एससीईआरटी उत्तराखंड ने पारंपरिक कक्षा सीखने के पूरक के लिए सह-पाठयक्रम
गतिविधियों की पैरवी की। किशोरावस्था
शिक्षा और जीवन कौशल विकास पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने वाली इन गतिविधियों को अनुभवात्मक
शिक्षा में शिक्षार्थियों को संलग्न करने और उन्हें सूचित निर्णय लेने के लिए सशक्त
बनाने के लिए प्रभावी शैक्षणिक उपकरण के रूप में उजागर किया गया था।
एससीईआरटी उत्तराखंड की भागीदारी
ने राज्य के भीतर जनसंख्या शिक्षा और सतत विकास पहल को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अपनी प्रतिबद्धता
को रेखांकित किया। वकालत कार्यक्रमों, रोल-प्ले प्रतियोगिताओं, लोक नृत्य प्रतियोगिताओं
और अन्य गतिविधियों के माध्यम से, एससीईआरटी उत्तराखंड जनसंख्या और विकास के मुद्दों
के बारे में छात्रों के बीच जागरूकता और जिम्मेदारी की संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देने में
सक्रिय भूमिका निभा रहा है।
