Capacity Building Program on Project and Financial Management Concludes Successfully at IIM Mumbai

In a significant stride towards enhancing the capabilities of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), Uttarakhand Planning Team, a comprehensive capacity-building program on project management and financial management was successfully concluded at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai.

The program, held from 08/01/2024 to 12/01/2024, was designed to impart essential concepts of project and financial management to the planning team, providing them with valuable insights into project planning, implementation, and physical and financial management. 

Led by Bandana Garbyal, the Director of Academic Research and Training for Uttarakhand, and Kanchan Devradi, the Joint Director of Program and Monitoring at SCERT Uttarakhand, the training aimed to equip the team with effective tools and techniques for project and financial management. The program emphasized the need for a holistic approach to ensure the successful execution of project plans.

Learning Objectives Achieved:

Conceptual Understanding: The program successfully imparted a conceptual understanding of project and financial management, ensuring that the SCERT and DIETs Planning Team has a strong foundation in these key areas.

Insightful Exploration: Participants gained insights into the intricacies of project planning, implementation, and the integration of physical and financial aspects in effective management.

Practical Tools and Techniques: The training equipped the planning team with practical tools and techniques crucial for successful project and financial management in the educational context.

Effective Execution: Strategies for the effective execution of project plans were highlighted, focusing on coordination, communication, and adaptability.

Leadership Role Acknowledged: The training program was attended by key leaders, including Bandana Garbyal and Kanchan Devradi, who played pivotal roles in guiding the team through the sessions. Interactive discussions allowed the leaders to share their insights and experiences, enriching the learning experience for all participants.

Closing Ceremony: The program concluded with a closing ceremony on January 12, 2024, at IIM Mumbai. During the ceremony, participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable knowledge gained and the interactive nature of the sessions.

In her closing remarks, Bandana Garbyal commended the participants for their active engagement and emphasized the importance of applying the newly acquired skills to further strengthen educational initiatives in Uttarakhand.

The success of this capacity-building program marks a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of the SCERT and DIETs Planning Team, ensuring they are well-equipped to tackle the challenges and opportunities in the dynamic field of education.

At the fifth day of workshop session was on Value based education and ethics followed by valedictory session for all participants at IIM Mumbai.

The upcoming "Workshop on Project & Financial Management for Planning Team of DIETs and SCERT Uttarakhand" scheduled to be held at IIM Bombay from 08th to 12th January 2024 aims to address the evolving challenges faced by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in Uttarakhand. 

Recognizing the increasing complexity of their work due to technological advancements and shifts in the economic landscape, the workshop emphasizes the crucial role of effective project and financial management. The rationale behind the program lies in the necessity for SCERT and DIET planners to develop a futuristic approach, vision, and specific skills to formulate realistic and achievable plans. The learning objectives include imparting concepts of project and financial management, providing insights into planning, implementation, and effective execution of projects, and equipping the planning team with tools and techniques. The program aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, recommending continuous professional development for faculties. The target group comprises planning teams from DIETs and SCERT, including principals, JD & DDR, and planning lecturers. As Bandana Garbyal, Director of Academic, Research and Training the lead of the core team said, it's an opportunity for the SCERT and DIETs officers and faculties to learn financial management skills in their respective areas of concern. The expected outcomes involve participants visualizing project and financial management concepts, creating effective plans for states and districts, utilizing resources efficiently, and demonstrating awareness and application of tools and techniques. Key performance indicators include participants' ability to explain and demonstrate project and financial planning concepts, develop realistic and measurable plans, and identify state and district needs effectively. The program's duration is five days with 30 participants, and evaluation methods include project submissions, presentations, internal and external assessments, and effective plan execution. The course coordinator is Dr. Ajay K. Chaurasia, emphasizing the alignment with Samagra Shiksha PAB Guidelines, NEP 2020 tasks, and the specific goals outlined for DIETs, such as becoming centers of excellence, trainers' development, and innovative practices.
