The School Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand, through SCERT Uttarakhand, has entered into an important collaboration with Adobe, opening new opportunities for teachers and students to strengthen digital creativity, Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills and technology-enabled teaching-learning across the state.

Uttarakhand is among the seven Indian states—Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Assam, Bihar and Tamil Nadu—partnering with Adobe through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at advancing digital creativity and AI skills in school education.

According to Adobe’s official announcement dated 27 August 2026, these partnerships will provide free access to Adobe Express for Education to thousands of government schools, expanding Adobe’s K–12 outreach in India to approximately 7.8 million students and teachers.

The development represents an important opportunity for SCERT Uttarakhand and the School Education Department to further strengthen their ongoing work in digital education, ICT integration, teacher professional development, e-content creation and AI-enabled teaching-learning.

A New Digital Learning Opportunity for Uttarakhand

The Adobe collaboration is much more than access to a digital platform. It provides an opportunity for teachers and students to learn, explore and apply cutting-edge technologies and creative digital tools within teaching-learning environments.

Adobe Express for Education can enable teachers and students to create visually engaging educational resources such as graphics, presentations, webpages, videos, posters, infographics and other multimedia content.

For teachers, such tools can help transform traditional learning material into engaging digital learning experiences. Students, meanwhile, can move beyond being consumers of technology and become creators, designers, storytellers and problem-solvers.

The collaboration can therefore contribute to creating classrooms where technology is not merely used for presenting information but becomes an instrument for creativity, communication, collaboration and innovation.

Digital Creativity and AI Skills

One of the important dimensions highlighted in Adobe's initiative is the development of future-oriented skills through resources associated with the Adobe Digital Academy.

The initiative focuses on competencies such as creative problem-solving, digital storytelling and AI-assisted content creation. These capabilities are becoming increasingly important as Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies reshape education, communication and the future workplace.

For Uttarakhand's students, this can open opportunities to creatively communicate ideas related to science, mathematics, languages, environmental conservation, climate change, disaster management, health, tourism, agriculture, local culture, entrepreneurship and community challenges.

Teachers can similarly use digital creativity and AI-assisted tools for lesson enrichment, e-content development, multimedia learning resources, presentations, educational videos, classroom activities and student projects.

Empowering Teachers Through Professional Development

Teacher capacity building is expected to be one of the most important dimensions of the initiative.

Adobe's announcement emphasizes training teachers to integrate digital creativity into classroom teaching. This aligns well with SCERT Uttarakhand's continuing initiatives in ICT-enabled education, e-content development, digital pedagogy, AI-enabled teaching-learning and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

The partnership can help teachers develop practical competencies in areas such as:

  • Digital content and multimedia creation

  • Creative classroom presentations

  • Educational graphics and infographics

  • Digital storytelling

  • Video-based learning resources

  • AI-assisted content creation

  • Student project and portfolio development

  • Responsible and ethical use of AI

  • Creative problem-solving and design

  • Technology-supported classroom innovation

Such professional development can empower teachers not only to use emerging technologies themselves but also to guide students towards their safe, responsible, ethical and productive use.

The leadership of SCERT Uttarakhand views the collaboration as an opportunity to further strengthen the state's digital education ecosystem and provide teachers and students with exposure to contemporary creative technologies.

Bandana Garbyal, Director Academic, SCERT Uttarakhand, welcomed the initiative as an important opportunity for strengthening technology-enabled education across Uttarakhand. The collaboration can support teachers in creating engaging learning experiences while enabling students to develop creativity, digital confidence and future-ready competencies.

Padmendra Saklani, Additional Director, SCERT Uttarakhand, highlighted the importance of strengthening teachers' practical digital competencies. The initiative provides opportunities for educators to move beyond conventional uses of technology towards creative content development, multimedia learning, digital storytelling and innovative classroom practices, ultimately enriching students' learning experiences.

Dr. K. N. Bijalwan, Nodal Officer, PM eVIDYA, SCERT Uttarakhand, emphasized the potential of the initiative to complement the state's ongoing digital education and e-content programmes. Systematic teacher training and meaningful integration of creative digital tools can further strengthen e-content creation, AI-enabled teaching-learning and responsible technology use among teachers and students.

Together, the initiative reflects SCERT Uttarakhand's broader commitment towards developing an educational ecosystem based on digital creativity, responsible AI use, teacher capacity building and student innovation.

PM eVIDYA and Digital Education Initiatives

The collaboration also has the potential to complement Uttarakhand's expanding digital education ecosystem, including PM eVIDYA, virtual classrooms, digital content creation and teacher professional development programmes.

Creative digital resources developed by trained teachers can support classroom teaching as well as digital and blended learning environments. Teachers capable of creating quality multimedia content can contribute more effectively to state-level digital repositories and technology-enabled educational programmes.

This combination of technology infrastructure, teacher competency and quality digital content can play an important role in extending meaningful learning opportunities across the geographically diverse and mountainous regions of Uttarakhand.

NEP 2020 and Future-Ready Education

The initiative also complements the broader vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages appropriate integration of technology, creativity, experiential learning and development of twenty-first-century competencies.

Adobe's focus on creative problem-solving, digital storytelling and AI-assisted content creation provides opportunities to integrate technology with classroom pedagogy rather than treating digital skills as an isolated area of learning.

The Adobe initiative extends across important school networks, including PM SHRI schools, CM SHRI schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) schools and other government school networks.

For a geographically diverse state such as Uttarakhand, digital creativity can provide students from remote, rural and mountainous areas with new platforms to express their ideas, demonstrate talent and showcase local knowledge, culture and innovations.

Career Opportunities

Another significant aspect of the collaboration is its relevance to the rapidly expanding digital and creative economy.

Students exposed to digital design, AI-assisted content creation, visual communication, multimedia and storytelling at the school level can develop foundational skills relevant to emerging fields such as animation, visual effects, gaming, digital media, graphic design, content creation, UI/UX, Artificial Intelligence and creative technologies.

Adobe has also highlighted the relevance of its education initiative to India's growing Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem and the increasing demand for digitally skilled professionals.

Thus, the initiative can contribute not only to better classroom learning but also to helping students understand how creativity, technology and AI are shaping the future world of higher education, entrepreneurship and employment.

Perhaps the most important potential impact of the SCERT Uttarakhand–Adobe collaboration is a shift in how teachers and students perceive technology.

The objective is not simply to learn how to operate another software platform. The larger opportunity is to enable teachers and students to become digital creators.

A student can transform a science concept into an infographic, document local culture through digital storytelling, present an environmental solution through a video, design an awareness campaign for disaster preparedness, or communicate an innovative idea through multimedia.

Similarly, a teacher can transform a conventional lesson into an interactive and visually engaging learning experience.

When such practices become part of everyday education, technology moves from being a tool of consumption to becoming a medium of imagination, creativity, communication and problem-solving.

Towards a Creative and AI-Empowered Uttarakhand

The collaboration between Adobe, the Government of Uttarakhand and SCERT Uttarakhand represents a significant opportunity to bring globally used creative technologies and emerging AI capabilities closer to teachers and school students.

Its long-term impact will depend on effective implementation through teacher capacity building, classroom integration, hands-on practice, student projects, mentoring, responsible AI practices and opportunities for teachers and students to showcase their creativity and innovation.

With sustained implementation and institutional support, this initiative can contribute towards developing a generation of teachers and learners who are not merely digitally literate but are creative thinkers, responsible users of Artificial Intelligence, digital storytellers, innovators and problem-solvers prepared for the future world of learning and work.

For SCERT Uttarakhand and the School Education Department, the partnership is another important step towards their continuing vision of building an innovative, inclusive, technology-enabled and future-ready education ecosystem across Uttarakhand.
