Uttarakhand’s Anandam Pathyacharya (Happiness Curriculum) was highlighted on an international platform during the Social Outcomes Conference 2026 (SOC26), held on 3–4 September 2026 at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, UK. The conference was organised by the Government Outcomes Lab (GO Lab) and brought together policymakers, researchers and practitioners working on innovative approaches to improving social outcomes.
According to the official SOC26 programme, Bhagwati Prasad Mandoli, Samagra Shiksha, Uttarakhand, participated alongside Sreehari Ravindranath of Dream a Dream in the session “The Power of Ecosystem Orchestration for Social Change at Scale". Their contribution was presented under the theme “Education System Transformation through a Policy Lab: Building Relational Ecosystems for Change.”
Within this broader discussion on education-system transformation, Uttarakhand’s Anandam initiative was showcased as an example of the state’s efforts to integrate happiness, mindfulness, social-emotional learning, empathy, self-awareness and relationship-building into everyday school education.
Launched by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2019, Anandam uses reflective practices, storytelling and interactive classroom activities to provide children with opportunities to understand themselves, recognise emotions and develop positive relationships.
The participation of Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, together with the collaborative contribution of Dream a Dream, provided an important opportunity to share Uttarakhand’s experience of child-centred and well-being-oriented educational transformation with an international audience.
The presentation at SOC26 represents a decisive moment for Uttarakhand’s school education initiatives, demonstrating how government policy, committed educators and collaborative partnerships can work together to translate social-emotional learning from policy into meaningful classroom practice.
