MOOC 4.0 Workshop Concludes at SCERT Uttarakhand

 

SCERT Uttarakhand's three-day MOOC 4.0 workshop closed on 23 October 2026. The course framework is designed; all eight courses have their teams and reviewers, the curriculum has been shared, and the final draft of each course is almost ready.

From 21 to 23 October 2026, school teachers, DIET and SCERT faculty, university professors, and partners from industry and civil society worked together, both offline and online. Their aim was to build the next set of free online courses for teachers and students of Uttarakhand on the e-Srijan platform.

MOOC 4.0 builds on the success of the earlier AI-ICT MOOCs. Those courses won the SKOCH Award 2026 (Gold, Education) and were featured as a case study in a UNESCO IITE guide for educators.

Three days, three milestones

1. Day 1 – Framework design. We oriented subject matter experts (SMEs) and reviewers, then designed the common MOOC 4.0 course framework: modules, learning outcomes, activities, assessments and certification.
2. Day 2 – Course distribution and team building. Experts were matched to courses based on the areas they chose. Every course got its own team of SMEs and a reviewer.
3. Day 3 – Curriculum and final draft. Each team shared and refined its curriculum. By the closing session, the final draft of every course was almost complete.

New partners join hands

For the first time, organizations from industry and civil society are co-creating online courses with SCERT Uttarakhand for the state's teachers and students.

Their field experience in teacher development, inclusive education, and road safety will help keep the courses practical and close to real classrooms.

Eight courses, eight teams

MOOC 4.0 has eight courses. Each has a team of six or seven experts, and every expert works on a course they chose.

Forty-experts and the course coordinator took part in the workshop, offline at SCERT Uttarakhand and online.

The teams will now finish their drafts, record video lessons, and build the course content. Reviewers will then check each course before it goes live on e-Srijan for teachers and students across Uttarakhand.
