A New Step Towards AI-Enabled Education, Digital Innovation and Future-Ready Teachers

Dehradun | 31 October 2026

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttarakhand, organised an online meeting on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, bringing together the Course Leads, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and members of all eight course development teams under the MOOCs 4.0 initiative.

The meeting was organised under the guidance of Shri Padmendra Saklani, Additional Director, SCERT Uttarakhand, with R. P. Badoni, IT Faculty and State Course Coordinator, coordinating the initiative.

The meeting focused on the proposed course development framework, preparation of learning modules, review of draft course materials, distribution of responsibilities and development of a coordinated action plan for the eight new online courses.

Building on the Success of MOOCs 1.0 and 2.0

SCERT Uttarakhand has been strengthening the professional competencies of teachers through technology-enabled training programmes delivered through its e-Srijan Learning Management System.

The earlier MOOCs 1.0 and MOOCs 2.0 initiatives demonstrated the potential of large-scale online teacher professional development, with approximately 49,000 and 47,000 course completions, respectively.

The initiative has also brought national and international recognition to Uttarakhand, including the SKOCH Gold Award 2026 and recognition among the Top Six Finalists of the AI for Education Awards 2026.

Building on these achievements, MOOCs 4.0 aims to expand opportunities for teachers and students through emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, inclusive education, research, communication skills and innovation-based learning.

The initiative brings together expertise in AI, educational technology, multimedia development, inclusive education, road safety, English communication, academic research, coding and innovation.

Through this collaborative model, SCERT Uttarakhand aims to strengthen the capacity of educators to integrate modern technologies into teaching while promoting responsible and inclusive digital learning.

MOOCs 4.0 represents another significant step in SCERT Uttarakhand's journey towards technology-enabled education and continuous professional development.

The programme is expected to support the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 by promoting digital competencies, innovation, accessibility and lifelong learning.

“From Digital Literacy to AI-Enabled Teaching and Innovation — MOOCs 4.0 is a step towards building future-ready teachers and empowered learners in Uttarakhand.”
